59 Asian languages, from the Punjab to the Philippines

South Asia is central to our work: Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Sylheti, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali and Sinhala, as well as Mirpuri, Pahari-Pothwari, Saraiki, Hindko and Sindhi. In East Asia we provide Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Hakka, Wu (Shanghainese), Japanese, Korean, Mongolian and Tibetan. Southeast Asia is covered in Vietnamese, Thai, Khmer, Lao, Burmese, Malay, Indonesian, Tagalog, Filipino and Cebuano, plus Pwo Karen, Kachin, Hakha Chin, Falam Chin and Rohingya.

A family from Mirpur may not use Karachi Urdu at home, and many people from Sylhet prefer Sylheti to standard Bengali. SILA Linguists® takes these nuances into account for diaspora communities across the UK, North America, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Asian language interpreting for every context

In court, in hospital, at the police station or on a home visit, our interpreters work face-to-face. The telephone service runs round the clock, 365 days a year, and video interpreting takes place on our app or your own platform. Trade fairs, negotiations with partners in Tokyo, Seoul or Shanghai, scientific congresses: we deliver consecutive, simultaneous and RSI interpreting and travel with your delegations as escort interpreters. Community interpreting and the choice of a female or male interpreter meet the expectations of many South Asian families.

Certified translation, localisation and language analysis

Our translators work in every relevant script: Urdu in Nastaliq, Devanagari, Gurmukhi, Bengali script, simplified and traditional Chinese characters, kana and kanji, Hangul, Thai and Khmer. Birth and marriage certificates, degrees and bank statements receive certified translation with a signed statement of accuracy recognised by UK authorities. For the Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Indian markets we localise websites, software and multimedia.

Time-stamped transcription, subtitling, LADO and nationality assessment, particularly for Rohingya, Burmese and Nepali speakers, complete the range.

Our vetted, trained and qualified linguists in these languages can support justice, police, immigration, the NHS, mental health, education, housing and charities, as well as technology, finance, insurance, media and travel businesses.
