Sector: Technology and software

Localisation for software, SaaS and app companies

SILA Linguists provides localisation of products, documentation and support content for technology companies, written to feel native in every market they sell to.

Software companies grow by selling into new language markets, and users notice when a product has been translated as an afterthought. Truncated buttons, inconsistent terminology, wrong date and currency formats and English-only error messages all undermine trust. More and more online content is published in languages other than English, and users expect the products they pay for to speak their language.

We localise user interface strings, help centres, onboarding flows, in-app messages, release notes and marketing pages. Our linguists work from your files and repositories, respect placeholders and variables, and keep terminology consistent across product and documentation.

Technology companies also need language support behind the product: interpreting for user research and customer calls, translation of contracts and data processing terms for enterprise buyers, and localisation of training and webinar videos.

What this sector needs

Language challenges in technology

  1. Interface strings in context

Short strings such as buttons and menu items need context and length limits to avoid ambiguous or truncated translations.

  2. Continuous releases

Agile teams ship updates often, so localisation must keep pace with small, frequent batches of new strings.

  3. Placeholders and code

Variables, tags and plural rules must survive translation so that builds do not break.

  4. Consistent product terms

Feature names and UI terms must match between the product, help centre and marketing site.

  5. Locale conventions

Dates, numbers, currencies, addresses and legal notices must follow local formats and requirements.

  6. Enterprise sales

Contracts, security questionnaires and data processing terms may need translation for buyers in other countries.

Services for technology

SILA Linguists®

SILA Linguists® localisation, translation and interpreting for technology companies

Our vetted, trained and qualified localisation specialists can help software, SaaS, app and platform companies ship products that feel native in every market. Software localisation covers UI strings, resource files, onboarding emails, in-app messages, release notes and app store listings, with linguistic testing on real builds. Website localisation adapts marketing sites and help centres for multilingual search, and multimedia localisation adds subtitles and voice-over to product demos, tutorials and webinars. Frequently updated knowledge bases and support macros can run through human-powered AI translation with professional post-editing. Glossaries and translation memories connect to your release cycle so that new strings can be localised quickly with every sprint.

Technology teams also need human conversation. Video remote interpreting supports usability testing and customer research sessions, telephone interpreting is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for multilingual customer support, and simultaneous interpreting serves global town halls and product launches. Terms of service, privacy notices, data processing agreements and API documentation go to document translation and technical document localisation, with certified translation where an authority or partner requires it, and research recordings go to transcription.

Technology work often overlaps with media, fashion and e-commerce and engineering, and one SILA Linguists® team keeps terminology consistent across all of it. We localise into more than 350 languages and dialects, including German, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil) and Arabic, for companies in the UK, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Pre-release builds and roadmaps stay confidential under NDA and UK GDPR. Our project managers work in your tools and file formats and can join planning calls with product, design and support teams.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which file formats can you localise?

We work with common resource and content formats, such as JSON, XLIFF, PO, strings files and CMS exports. Send a sample file and we will confirm the workflow.

Can you keep up with frequent releases?

Yes. Dedicated project management lets us handle small, regular batches of new strings as well as large launches.

Do you use machine translation?

For high-volume content such as help articles we offer human-powered AI translation: machine output edited by professional linguists. Interface text and marketing copy are usually best translated by a linguist from the start.

Do you test the localised product?

Our linguists can review screenshots or a test build to catch truncation, context errors and formatting problems before release.
