Dansk tegnsprog is the sign language of the Deaf community in Denmark, recognised by the Danish Parliament.

dslDanish Sign Language has its own grammar and is the root of a small family: Icelandic Sign Language developed from it, and it has influenced Norwegian Sign Language and Faroese signing. It is distinct from Swedish Sign Language.
The Folketing has recognised Danish Sign Language, and an official sign language council monitors its use. A national Deaf association represents the community.

Dansk Tegnsprog, Danish Sign Language, has its own grammar and is the root of a small family: Icelandic Sign Language developed from it, and it influenced Norwegian Sign Language and Faroese signing. It is distinct from Swedish Sign Language. Denmark officially recognises Danish Sign Language. SILA Linguists® provides Danish Sign Language interpreting, video translation and captioning for businesses, healthcare providers, legal advisers, schools and conference organisers in Denmark and abroad.
Danish interpreters train at university college level, and two-interpreter teams are standard for long assignments. We provide Danish Sign Language interpreting on site and by video remote interpreting for business meetings and negotiations, hospital and specialist appointments, legal consultations, education and training, and conferences and seminars.
Icelandic Deaf people may understand some Danish signs because of the shared history, but they should be offered Icelandic Sign Language where possible. For Nordic and international events, International Sign may be needed alongside Danish Sign Language, and we can advise on the right mix. Please let us know the length and subject of the assignment so we can plan the team.
Denmark's interpreting system is well developed, and Danish Deaf people travelling or working abroad often expect the same standard. When a Danish employee attends a meeting, a training course or a medical appointment in another country, we can connect a Danish Sign Language interpreter by video, or arrange for one to travel with them for longer assignments such as conferences and study visits.
We translate written Danish or English, such as company announcements, patient information, course material and accessible web pages, into recorded Danish Sign Language video made with Deaf translators, and we translate signed video into written Danish or English. Danish certificates and records are translated and certified by our Danish team.
Danish public bodies and companies increasingly add signed summaries to annual reports, consultations and customer information. We script these with you in plain Danish, film them with Deaf presenters and deliver files ready for your website, intranet or social media channels.
We caption corporate films, webinars and conference recordings in Danish or English and produce written transcripts of meetings that include signing, checking each file by hand.
Our vetted, trained and qualified Danish Sign Language interpreters can support businesses, healthcare providers, legal practitioners, educational institutions and conference organisers. SILA Linguists® organises each booking through one coordinator, works with vetted interpreters, and protects every assignment with confidentiality agreements and UK GDPR. Danish companies working with British or international partners can combine sign language interpreting with spoken-language interpreting and translation through the same team.
